The short version: Munch Buddy collects no personal data. The iOS timer app does not use the camera or the microphone at all. There are no accounts, no ads, and no third-party analytics.

The camera (web demo only)

The Munch Buddy iOS app has no camera access. Only the optional camera games in the web demo at munch-buddy.vercel.app (and our separate app Munch Buddy Bites) use the front camera to notice when your child takes a bite, so a piece can drop into the jar. All processing happens on your device, in real time (Apple's ARKit and Vision frameworks on iOS; MediaPipe running inside your browser on the web).

No photo or video is ever saved.
No image ever leaves your device.
The camera turns off the moment the meal ends, and camera games are always optional — tapping the jar works without any camera at all.
Face data is used only for the bite detection itself, never for identification, advertising, or profiling, and is discarded frame by frame.

What is stored

A few settings live only on your device (Apple's UserDefaults / your browser's local storage): chosen timer style, meal length, child age group, sound on/off, behaviour stars earned, chosen buddy and sound theme, and which little animals have hatched. Nothing identifies you or your child, and nothing is transmitted to us — we have no servers that receive user data.

Notifications

If you allow notifications, the iOS app schedules local notifications on your device so your child's buddy can still call when a timer ends while the phone is locked. They are created and delivered on the device; no push service and no data leaves your phone.

Purchases

Munch Buddy Plus is a one-time purchase handled entirely by Apple through your Apple Account. We never see your payment details.

Analytics & third parties

The iOS app contains no third-party analytics, no advertising SDKs, and no trackers. Apple may provide us aggregated, anonymous statistics (downloads, crashes) through App Store Connect.

Children

Munch Buddy is a tool for parents, used together with their child. Because the app collects no personal data from anyone, it collects none from children. Purchases sit behind the parent's Apple Account authentication.
